Women's Tennis Falls In GLIAC Semifinals To Unbeaten Northwood

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team could not pull off another upset in the 2012 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semifinals as the fifth-seeded Bulldogs fell to top-seeded Northwood by a 5-0 score on Saturday (Oct. 27) afternoon in Midland.

With the setback, the Bulldogs will now face second-seeded Wayne State in Sunday's (Oct. 28) third-place match starting at 8:30 a.m. (ET) at the Midland Community Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs trailed 3-0 following doubles play against the Timberwolves and Northwood won the first two completed singles flights in straight-sets to claim the victory.  NU will face third-seeded Grand Valley State in Sunday's title match as the Lakers topped WSU in the semifinal round.

Ferris State dropped to 11-6 overall this season with the setback while Northwood improved to 15-0 on the year.

FSU was the fifth overall seed in the eight-team field heading into Friday's opener against fourth-seeded Ashland before pulling out a 5-4 win to reach the semifinals.
