Early Lead Helps Panthers Top Bulldogs In Women's Tennis Action

Big Rapids, Mich. - Visiting Davenport University jumped out to an early lead following the doubles round and pulled out a 6-3 win over Ferris State in non-conference women's tennis action on Tuesday (Feb. 18) evening inside the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center.

The host Bulldogs took the number two doubles flight, but the Panthers captured wins at the first and third spots to grab a 2-1 edge after tandem play.

In singles action, Ferris State received wins from senior Ana Jan in a three-setter at the number one flight along with a straight-set victory for freshman Gabrielle Demchenko at the second spot in the lineup.

However, Davenport swept the third thru sixth singles positions to notch the victory.

The Bulldogs will hit the road for their next six matches beginning with a trip to face Southern Indiana on Saturday, March 1, at 6 p.m. (ET).
