Ferris State Women's Tennis Picks Up First Victory Of The Year With Home Sweep
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad scored its first victory of the 2016-17 campaign as the Bulldogs stormed past visiting Lake Superior State by a 9-0 score on Saturday (Sept. 10) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.
The Bulldogs, who dropped a close 5-4 match against Michigan Tech in its season opener at home on Friday, bounced back in a big way by shutting down the Lakers in the sweep.
Ferris State was dominant in doubles play as the closest score came by an 8-5 count at the number one flight in the lineup. FSU captured two doubles 8-2 and won the third position 8-4 in grabbing the early 3-0 match advantage.
Five of the six singles flights went in straight-sets to the Bulldogs with Amiena Houston also pulling out a three-setter at the third spot in the FSU lineup.
The Bulldogs, now 1-1 on the year, will travel to Northwood next Saturday, Sept. 17, for a 10 a.m. (ET) match in Midland.
