Bulldog Women's Tennis Caps Unbeaten Weekend With Dominating Home Win

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team capped off an unbeaten weekend with a dominating 8-1 win over Walsh on Sunday (Oct. 16) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids.

The Bulldogs, who have officially clinched a berth in the GLIAC Tournament, won the league regular-season tilt versus the Cavaliers to move to 7-3 overall and in the conference this season.

Ferris State has now won six of its last seven outings this fall overall with the triumph.

In the win over Walsh, the Bulldogs swept the doubles round, which included an exciting 9-7 win at the number one flight in the lineup.

FSU then took five of the six singles flights despite a lineup adjustment and two of the wins came in three sets. Both Teodora Stefanovic and Amiena Houston rallied to win the deciding frame at the number one and two flights, respectively, after falling in the middle set.

Ferris State also received singles wins from Arien Kissinger, Silvia Verebes and Nicole Stay at the fourth thru sixth flights in the order. Stefanovic, Houston and Kissinger were all double winners on the day.

The Bulldogs will play their final regular-season league match at home on Wednesday (Oct. 19) as they host West Michigan rival Grand Valley State at the Racquet and Fitness Center. Match time is set for 4 p.m. (ET).
