Bulldog Women's Tennis Opens Spring Season With Big Road Victory
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad played its first match of the spring season on Sunday (Feb. 26) and came away with an impressive 9-0 sweep on the road over Aquinas in non-league action in Grand Rapids.
The Bulldogs bolted out to the early lead by handling the Saints in all three doubles flights, which included a pair of 8-5 wins along with an 8-1 triumph at the middle position.
In singles action, FSU completed the shutout victory by taking all six spots, which included a pair of tiebreakers at the first and sixth flights. The Bulldogs also won the fourth and fifth flights by 6-0, 6-0 scores each.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 9-6 overall this season counting the fall competition.
Ferris State is next slated to take part in the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover with three regional matches set for March 17-19 in Plainfield, Ill.
