FSU Women's Tennis Takes Davis & Elkins To Wire In Close Setback

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad took Davis & Elkins to the wire, but suffered a close 5-4 setback in non-league action on Wednesday (March 7) at the Spring TennisFest in Hilton Head, S.C.

Davis & Elkins captured two of the three doubles flights to grab the early lead and held off the Bulldogs in the singles round by splitting the six flights to garner the triumph.

Ferris State got a 9-7 doubles win from the number one tandem of Nika Hein & Silvia Verebes for the squad's lone point in the doubles round.

In singles action, Nicole Meylor was a straight-set winner at three singles with Adriana Fabrizio winning in three-set fashion at the fourth flight and newcomer Carley Hollerback posting a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the fifth spot in the lineup.

The Bulldogs will close out their spring break trip against Salem International on Thursday (March 8) beginning at 11:30 a.m. (ET) in Hilton Head.
