Ferris State Falls In Opening Round Of GLIAC Women's Tennis Torurnament

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team fell to Wayne State 4-2 in the opening round of the 2018 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament on Friday night (Oct. 26) at the Greater Midland Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs, seeded fifth in the field, dropped the first two completed doubles flights at the first and third spots as fourth-seeded WSU earned the early point.

In singles action, the Warriors grabbed wins at two, three and four singles in straight-sets to notch the triumph.

FSU got a 6-2, 6-0 win from Nika Hein at the number one singles position along with win by retirement at five singles from Nicole Meylor.

Ferris State fell to 4-6 overall with the setback.

The Bulldogs will next face Ashland on Saturday (Oct. 27) in the consolation round of the GLIAC Tournament in Midland.
