Ferris State's Brittany Lavenant Recognized As GLIAC Tennis Player Of The Week

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University sophomore Brittany Lavenant (Camarillo, Calif.) of the Bulldog women's tennis squad has been recognized as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Player of the Week.

Lavenant helped lead the Bulldogs to back-to-back home wins to start conference play unbeaten this past weekend in Big Rapids.

On Saturday, she posted a three-set victory at four singles and teamed up with Silvia Verebes to record a 6-0 win at three doubles in the Bulldogs' 5-2 triumph over Saginaw Valley State in the season opener. She also notched a pair of wins on Sunday as Ferris State beat Northwood for the first time since 2004, snapping NU's 22-match series' winning streak.

In Sunday's victory, she teamed up with Verebes to post FSU's lone doubles win and then came back to win in three sets at four singles as the Bulldogs rallied by taking the bottom four flights to earn the win.

For the weekend, she was a perfect 4-0 for the Bulldogs.

Ferris State will next take part in the 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championships set for Sept. 20-22 in Grand Rapids.
