Bulldog Women's Tennis Claims Impressive Regional Win Over Lewis On Saturday Night

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team notched its fifth consecutive win on Saturday (March 13) night as the Bulldogs defeated Lewis (Ill.) by a 6-1 score in regional action in Plainfield, Ill.

The Bulldogs, who are now 5-1 in regular-season play this spring, returned to the court for the first time in nearly two weeks and put together a dominating performance at the Five-Star Tennis Center in Illinois.

The match was a final tune-up for Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) regular-season play and matched an identical 6-1 triumph over the Flyers recorded by the Bulldog men's tennis squad on Saturday evening.

The Bulldogs captured the doubles point, sweeping all three flights by scores of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-3 at the first, second and third positions, respectively.

In singles play, the Flyers got a straight-set win at the number one flight. However, the Bulldogs won the final five spots in the lineup, which included three-set wins at the three, four and five flights.

Ferris State opens GLIAC play at home against Wayne State on Friday, March 19, starting at 11 a.m. (ET) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids. The Bulldogs then host Ashland on Saturday, March 20, starting at 10 a.m. (ET) to wrap up the opening weekend of conference action.
