Ferris State Women's Tennis Moves Up To #19 In The Nation This Week

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis squad, which captured the program's first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship since 2002 this season, has moved up in this week's Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II National Rankings at #19 overall.

The Bulldogs, who will take part in this weekend's GLIAC Tournament as the number one seed, moved up from 21st in the most recent rankings after wrapping up regular-season play with a 13-1 overall record and a perfect 8-0 GLIAC record.

Ferris State is the lone team from the GLIAC found in the national 25 rankings.

Along with the national rankings, the Bulldogs are also currently listed among the six teams currently under consideration for the NCAA Tournament in the NCAA's regional rankings.

The Ferris State women's team claimed the program's 20th league crown and first conference championship since 2002 this season.

Ferris State will take on eighth-seeded Saginaw Valley State in the quarterfinal-round of the GLIAC Tournament starting on Friday (April 23) at 2:30 p.m. (ET) outside or 6 p.m. (ET) if played indoors due to weather in Midland.

The semifinals are on Saturday with the league tournament championship set for Sunday.
