Ferris State Women's Tennis Season Ends In NCAA Tournament Setback
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's tennis team saw its season come to an end on Monday (May 12) as the Bulldogs fell to Tiffin by a 4-1 score in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tourney in Detroit.
The Dragons claimed the doubles point and won three of the first four completed singles flights in the regional contest for the win.
With the setback, FSU closed the year with a 12-9 overall record.
The Bulldogs made their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance this year and their 23rd all-time in program history.
Tiffin won each of the first two doubles flights for the initial point in the match, scoring a 6-3 win at one doubles and a 6-2 victory at the second spot in the lineup.
In singles play, the Bulldogs got a win from Maria Fernanda Hernandez Ferrer at the third flight with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph. However, TU notched straight-set wins at two, four and six singles to claim the victory.
Along with reaching the NCAA Tournament, the Bulldogs also placed third this year in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and advanced to the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals under head coach Mark Doren.
