Strong Showings For FSU At Mike Lints Open

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed in the Mike Lints Laker Open hosted by Grand Valley State on Friday (Jan. 20) night at the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale.

Bulldog senior All-American Tina Muir captured second place in the mile run and reached an NCAA Division II National Provisional Qualification time with a performance of 5:00.19 in the event. Muir also took fourth place in the 3,000 meters (9:40.95).

FSU sophomore Jessica Pilling placed third in the weight throw (55-0) on the women's side.

Meanwhile, junior Shelby Janutol came in fifth in the mile (5:08.54).

Junior Zoey Hohmann took seventh place in the 400 meters (58.72) while junior Alyssa Osika came in seventh in the 800 meters (2:21.59).

Ferris State finished 10th in the women's 4x400-meter relay (4:10.72).

Senior Justin Price came in seventh in the men's 400 meters (50.95) while senior Tyler Crossman was seventh in the 3,000 meters (8:29.64).  Bulldog sophomore Connor LaRowe placed eighth in the mile run (4:19.67).

Junior Ryan Chute wound up ninth in the 3,000 meters (8:32.11). Finally, junior Lucas Johnson rounded out FSU's top 10 performances as he took 10th place in the weight throw (51-1.75).

The non-scoring Mike Lints Laker Open included performers from GVSU, FSU, Northwood, Aquinas, Bethel (Ind.), Olivet Nazarene, Indiana Tech, Spring Arbor, Hope, St. Francis (Ill.), Calvin, Oakland, Windsor (Ontario) and more.

FSU next competes in the Division II Team Challenge on Feb. 4 in Geneva, Ohio.
