Bulldog Track Competes At Hillsdale Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams took part in the Hillsdale Invitational on Saturday (April 14) at Ken Herrick Track in Hillsdale, Mich.

Sophomore Samantha Johnson captured first place in the 1,500 meters (4:36.46) while junior Anna Rudd placed second (4:37.68) in the same event.

Freshman Briana Raasio won the javelin (128-2) with sophomore Jessica Pilling taking second place in the hammer throw (176-4).

Junior Zoey Hohmann was second in the 400 meters (56.;99) and took fourth place in the 200 meters (25.41).

Sophomore Brittany Anderson placed third in the 5,000 meters (18:12.66).

FSU was also fourth in the 4x400-meter relay (4:16.13).

Bulldog junior Ryan Chute placed second in the 1,500 meters (3:56.25) while senior Tyler Crossman placed fourth in the same field (3:57.80) and freshman Spencer Gerber came in sixth (3:59.37).

Senior Justin Price earned runner-up honors in the 400 meters (48.98) and came in fifth in the 200 meters (22.56).

Sophomore Andrew Harper was second in the 5,000 meters (15:18.56) and sophomore Michael Schulte placed sixth in the same race (16:03.35) with sophomore Andrew Campbell right behind in seventh place (16:18.45).

The Bulldogs took third, fourth and fifth place in the shot put with the trio of Ryan Stankey (49-4.50), Sam Goode (41-7) and David Jimpkoski (40-4.75). Stankey placed fourth in the discus (145-0) while Jacob Medendorp came in sixth in the javelin (100-8).  Jimpkoski finished fourth in the hammer throw (157-9) with J.J. Vandenberg coming in sixth in the field (151-7).

FSU finished third in the men's 4x400-meter relay (3:24.15).

Ferris State will take part in two seperate meets this next week with competitors in both the Mt. Sac Relays in California (April 19-21) and the Grand Valley State "Al Owens" Classic in Allendale (April 21).
