Bulldog Track Squads Take Part In Final Tune-Up At SVSU Prior To GLIAC Championships

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's indoor track and field squads took part in their final competition prior to the 2020 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships as the Bulldogs competed in the Saginaw Valley State Tune-Up meet on Friday (Feb. 21) in University Center.

The event was held at the SVSU Fieldhouse and included teams along with selected student-athletes from across the region.

FSU's Katie Etelamaki earned runner-up honors in the women's mile run with a time of 4:58.84. She was followed by teammate Taylor Thrush, who placed third (5:00.14) with both narrowly missing the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard in the race.

Etelamaki was also second in the 3,000 meters (10:14.43) with Kylie Hutchinson fourth (10:42.10), Paite Deitering sixth (10:52.01) and Hannah Loucks eighth (10:55.13).

Sydney Dawes claimed fourth place in the 800 meters (2:22.93) with Jennifer Eaton seventh (2:26.64) and Callie Delaney ninth (2:29.51). Allyson Faulkner claimed sixth place in the 200 meters (28.56).

On the men's side, FSU's Stanley Williams won the long jump for the second consecutive meet with a performance of 6.96 meters.

Ben Menapace took fifth place in the 200 meters (22.67). Ethan Hamilton placed sixth in the mile run (4:31.47). Brett Robertson finished sixth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.99) and Travis Feldpausch was ninth in the 400 meters (54.46).

The Bulldogs' Kolin Ghidoni was fifth in the 800 meters (2:00.44) with Logan Reimink seventh (2:04.71) followed by Logan Williams in eighth (2:05.83) and Ethan Israels ninth (2:06.54).

Donis Harris claimed sixth place in the 3,000 meters (8:48.10) with Aaron Jarema placing ninth (8:53.43) in the race. Forresk Akers claimed eighth place in the shot put (12.89m) and Trevor Roznowski finished eighth in the weight throw (13.09m).

The Bulldogs were also second in the women's 4x400-meter relay (4:12.35) featuring a contingent of Katelyn Hutchinson, Carissa Schurr, Thrush and Kylie Hutchinson. Another grouping of Dawes, Delaney, Sydney Kubiak and Deitering finished third (4:36.01).

The men's tandem of Robertson, Logan Williams, Hamilton and Menapace won the 4x400-meter relay (3:28.06) with the quartet of Brendan Deneen, Israels, Reimink and Ghidoni placing third (3:45.19).

The Bulldogs will compete in the GLIAC Indoor Championships on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 29-March 1, in Allendale.
