Ferris State Track Teams Wrap Up Weekend Action At GVSU Event

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University's men's and women's indoor track and field squads returned to action on Saturday (Feb. 6) by taking part in the Grand Valley State Snowdown Showdown in Allendale.

The annual GVSU Open event included student-athletes and teams from schools across the region such as FSU, GVSU, Davenport, Hope, Valparaiso, Indiana State, Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan and others.

FSU's Claudia Wilkinson placed tied for fifth with fellow Bulldog Amanda Eslinger as both recorded a height of 5-2.50.

The Bulldogs' Carissa Schurr placed 10th overall in the 800 meters (2:19.89). Senior Kylie Hutchinson had the 11th fastest time overall in the mile run (5:17.50) while Hannah Loucks was 11th overall in the 3,000 meters (10:46.27).

FSU was also 10th overall in the 4x400-meter relay as the quartet of Callie Delaney, Kylie Hutchinson, Allyson Faulkner and Katelyn Hutchinson won section three in a time of 4:23.32.

In men's action, the Bulldogs' Brett Robertson was ninth overall in the 200 meters (22.96). Meanwhile, Ben Menapace was ninth overall in the 400 meters (50.74). 

In the throws, junior Forrest Akers placed ninth in the shot put (46-2.75).

Ferris State's 4x400-meter relay team on the men's side finished eighth overall as the foursome of Robertson, Logan Williams, Brendan Deneen and Menapace clocked 3:35.0 in the event.

The Bulldogs will return to Allendale for the Grand Valley State Big Meet set for Feb. 12-13.
