Ferris State Throwers Compete At GVSU Last Chance Meet

Big Rapids, Mich. - A selected number of Ferris State University men's and women's track and field throwers competed on Tuesday (May 11) at the Grand Valley State Last Chance Meet in Allendale.

The competition served as an opportunity for athletes to compete an additional time in an effort to improve upon their performances in hopes of reaching NCAA Division II National qualifying marks. 

Along with Ferris State, the event featured athletes in different events from schools such as Central Michigan, Western Michigan Grand Valley State, Northwood, Davenport, Tiffin, Findlay, Saginaw Valley State, Aquinas, Calvin, Siena Heights, Madonna, Hope and unattached competitors.

FSU's Brianna Copley took fourth place in the discus (44.66m).

Meanwhile, Emma Stephayn came in fifth overall in the hammer throw (48.18m) with Kennedy Riebschleger placing fifth in the javelin (31.24m). Riebschleger also was ninth overall in the hammer (39.83m).

On the men's side, Trevor Roznowski took sixth place in the open division of the discus (42.03m) and was also 11th in the hammer throw (47.19m).

The official selections for the NCAA Division II National Championships will be announced next Tuesday (May 18) by the national committee.
