Ferris State Athletes Reach Three D2 National Provisional Qualifying Marks At Hillsdale Last Chance Event

Big Rapids, Mich. - A selected number of Ferris State University men's and women's track and field throwers competed on Thursday (May 13) at the Hillsdale Last Chance Classic in Hillsdale.

The competition at Hillsdale's Ken Herrick Track served as an opportunity for athletes to compete an additional time in an effort to improve upon their performances in hopes of reaching NCAA Division II National qualifying marks. 

Along with Ferris State, the event featured athletes in different events from schools across the region from all levels of competition.

FSU's Brianna Copley placed fourth in the discus (154-0) along with fifth in the shot put (45-3.75) while reaching NCAA Division II National Provisional qualification marks in both events.

Meanwhile, Emma Stephayn came in sixth overall in the hammer throw (162-00) with Kennedy Riebschleger placing sixth in the javelin (97-0). Riebschleger also was 12th overall in the hammer (136-7).

On the men's side, the Bulldogs' Brett Robertson was the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles (53.09) and reached the D2 national provisional qualifying standard. 

Additionally, FSU's Trevor Roznowski placed 11th in the discus (146-5) along with 13th in the hammer throw (167-10).

The official selections for the NCAA Division II National Championships will be announced next Tuesday (May 18) by the national committee.
