Bulldog Volleyball Rolls Past Tiffin For Fifth-Straight Win

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad won for the fifth-straight time as the Bulldogs rolled to a 3-0 sweep over Tiffin to open a two-match trip to Ohio on Friday (Sept. 28) evening.

FSU captured a tight first set by a score of 25-22 and then beat the Dragons by taking sets two and three by 25-17 and 25-18 margins, respectively, at the Gillmor Center.

Senior middle hitter Anne Sutton recorded 12 kills in leading FSU, which improved to 11-3 overall and 5-1 in the GLIAC.  Junior middle hitter Angi Kent added 11 kills and hit .625 for the match with only one error on 16 attacks.

The Bulldogs had two players reach double-digits in digs, including sophomore outside hitter Courtney Rehm and junior libero Brandie Merren, who both notched 10 each.  Finally, senior setter Samantha Fordyce contributed 44 assists and eight digs in the winning effort.

Ferris State posted a .359 attack percentage, which included a .438 mark in the final frame.  The Bulldogs had 51 kills with only nine errors on 117 atttempts.  FSU added 46 assists, 43 digs and three team blocks.

The Bulldogs also had five service aces, but did finish with eight service errors in the encounter.

Meanwhile, Tiffin was paced by Danielle McQuade's squad-best nine kills.  Tiffany Buchinger had 28 assists and Jordan Jenkins netted 26 digs.  The Dragons hit .237 for the night with 36 kills and 33 assists.  They finished with 54 digs, five blocks and three aces with four service errors.

The win was also the fifth in as many tries against the Dragons for Ferris State as they improved to 5-0 all-time versus Tiffin.

Ferris State will try to win for the sixth consecutive time on Saturday (Sept. 29) as they face Ohio Dominican in league play beginning at 1 p.m. (ET) in Columbus, Ohio.
