Ferris State Volleyball Closes Ohio Trip With Another Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally 22nd-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball team won for the sixth match in a row as the Bulldogs completed a weekend trip to Ohio with a 3-1 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) victory at Ohio Dominican on Saturday (Sept. 29).

The Bulldogs won the match 25-20, 19-25, 25-20 and 25-19 to improve to 12-3 overall and 6-1 in league action.  ODU fell to 6-8 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

Sophomore outside hitter Courtney Rehm netted 15 kills and 12 digs in pacing Ferris State while FSU also received 10 kills and 12 digs from senior outside hitter Aly Brecht.  Freshman hitter Megan Vander Meer added 10 kills in the winning effort.

The Bulldogs posted a .224 attack percentage on 50 kills and totaled 66 digs with seven service aces and six service errors.  The Bulldogs had 14 block assists and four solo efforts with senior Anne Sutton leading FSU with six block assists at the net.

Ferris State junior libero Brandie Merren had a squad-high 23 digs while senior Paige Wyers added 11 digs in the victory.  Senior setter Samantha Fordyce contributed 35 assists.

On the Ohio Dominican side, Caitlin Kusan totaled 13 kills with both Brianna Reder and Tory Thompson posting 10 kills.  Bailey Barker had a match-high tying 23 digs and Darby Slavin added 17 to go with 39 assists.

FSU held the Panthers to a .168 attack percentage on 51 kills with 26 errors.  Ohio Dominican had 74 digs and seven aces, but also had eight errors at the service line.

Ferris State returns home for two matches next weekend.  FSU opens the homestand against Ashland on Friday night (Oct. 5) at 7 p.m. (ET) inside the Ewigleben Sports Arena.
