Bulldog Volleyball Rolls Past Findlay In Return To GLIAC Play

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State women's volleyball team resumed Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action on Friday (Oct. 19) night and recorded a dominating 3-0 road win against the Findlay Oilers at Croy Gymnasium in Findlay, Ohio.

FSU took the match quickly by scores of 25-21, 25-15 and 25-21 as the Bulldogs improved to 16-5 overall and 9-1 in league competition.

Findlay fell to 8-12 overall and 5-5 in league play with the setback.

Sophomore outside hitter Courtney Rehm tallied 11 kills and 17 digs in leading the Bulldogs to the win.  Senior middle hitter Anne Sutton added 10 kills with junior libero Brandie Merren notching 15 digs in the victory.

Ferris State senior setter Samantha Fordyce totaled 37 assists for the Bulldogs, who hit .272 for the match with 45 kills and only 14 errors on 114 total attacks.

The Oilers were paced by Danielle Taflinger, who netted 11 kills.  Amanda Calhoun added 29 assists with Becca Shoemaker notching 12 digs.

Findlay hit just .135 for the night with 37 kills and 20 errors on 126 attacks.

Overall, Ferris State held a 57-48 edge in total digs.  The Oilers had eight blocks to seven for the Bulldogs and both teams recorded two service aces.  UF finished with six service errors to only two for the Bulldogs.

Ferris State will be back in action on Saturday (Oct. 20) with a 4 p.m. (ET) league tilt against the Wayne State Warriors in Detroit.
