Bulldog Volleyball Cruises Past Hillsdale In Three-Straight Sets

Big Rapids, Mich. – The Ferris State University women's volleyball team tallied another win as they defeated divisional foe Hillsdale by a score of 3-0 on Saturday (Sep. 21) afternoon in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at the Ewigleben Sports Arena.

The Bulldogs won in three straight sets (30-28, 25-20, 25-23) to raise their record to 7-3 overall on the season.  With the loss, Hillsdale fell to 3-7 overall.

Sophomore outside hitter Alexis Huntey led the charge for the Bulldogs as she tallied 13 kills and six digs. In addition, Ferris State received nine kills and 12 digs from junior Courtney Rehm while senior libero Brandie Merren added 11 digs of her own.

Also, freshman setter Stephanie Sikorski contributed to the FSU attack by adding 32 assists.  The Bulldogs also received five kills and nine digs from sophomore Megan Vander Meer.

On the other side, the Chargers were led by middle hitter Emily Wolfert, who tallied 14 kills and eight digs.  Sophomore outside hitter Jordan Denmark provided eight kills and nine digs while teammate Caitlin Kopmeyer posted a match-high 15 digs.

Ferris State finished with 46 kills, 36 assists and 49 digs to go along with five service aces and six team blocks.  FSU hit .284 for the match, posting an impressive .415 percentage in the first set.

Hillsdale posted 41 kills, 48 digs and four team blocks to go along with a .212 hitting percentage.  They were limited to a .154 attack percentage in the third set as the Bulldogs finished off the match.

With the victory, Ferris State is now off to a 2-0 start in GLIAC play.

The Bulldogs will hit the road and travel to Ohio to face Walsh on Friday (Sep. 27) night at 7 p.m. (ET) in conference action at Canton, Ohio.
