Bulldog Volleyball Dominates Walsh In League Road Contest For Fourth-Straight Win

Canton, Ohio - The nationally 24th-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball team posted a dominating 3-0 sweep over Walsh in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play on Friday (Sept. 27) night in Canton, Ohio.

FSU opened a two-match weekeend trip to the Buckeye state by posting its fourth-straight win in commanding fashion.  The Bulldogs took the first set by an impressive 25-11 count and then took set two 25-20 before recording a 25-12 win in the third frame.

Ferris State improved to 8-3 overall and remained unbeaten in the GLIAC with a 3-0 mark by virtue of the victory.  Meanwhile, Walsh fell to 3-7 overall and 0-3 in league play with the loss.

Sophomore hitter Alexis Huntey paced the Bulldogs with a match-high 13 kills while recording an impressive .632 attack percentage.  Teammate Caroline Heitzman added eigth kills to go with a .615 attack figure of her own as Ferris State tallied a .392 team attack percentage with 39 kills and only eight errors in 79 total attacks.

The Bulldogs also received seven kills from junior Courtney Rehm while senior libero Brandie Merren notched a team-best 12 digs.  Freshman setter Stephanie Sikorski totaled 33 assists in the victory.

As a team, Ferris State had 34 digs, four aces and four blocks to go with its 39 kills.  Both Megan Vander Meer and Claire Grawburg tallied three block assists apiece.

On the Walsh side, the Cavaliers were paced by Britney Terrell's team-high seven kills.  Paige Chandler added six kills with Devin Hummel contributing eight digs and Haley Howell adding 20 assists.

Walsh was limited to only a .100 attack figure with 24 kills and 16 errors on 80 attacks.  WU also finished with 27 digs, three blocks and a single ace to go with nine service errors.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday (Sept. 28) as they face Malone in Canton at 2 p.m. (ET).
