Ferris State Volleyball Pushes Win Streak To Five-Straight Win GLIAC Road Sweep

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally 24th-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball team kept its winning streak intact as the Bulldogs rolled past Malone by a 3-0 score on Saturday (Sept. 28) to complete a weekend swing in Canton, Ohio.

After dominating Walsh on Friday night, the Bulldogs picked up right where they left off in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) encounter versus the Pioneers.  FSU took set one 25-17 before capturing the second frame 26-24 and sealing the match with a 25-10 triumph in the third and final set.

With the win, the Bulldogs recorded their fifth consecutive victory and improved to 9-3 overall while remaining unbeaten in the GLIAC at 4-0 on the year.

Malone, meanwhile, fell to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

Ferris State hit .314 in the first frame to take the early lead and finished with a .225 attack percentage for the day.  The total included a sgtrong showing from senior middle hitter Angi Kent, who had a team-best 11 kills with only a single error in 18 attacks for a .556 hitting figure.

FSU also received 10 kills from junior hitter Courtney Rehm along with seven by sophomore Alexis Huntey.  Senior libero Brandie Merren paced the Bulldogs in digs with 20 while Rehm added 13, sophomore Megan Vander Meer had 12 and Huntey chipped in with 11 on the day.

Freshman setter Stephanie Sikorski led the Bulldogs with 37 assists and added six digs along with a squad-high four block assists.  Caroline Heitzman had a pair of solo blocks with three assists as FSU racked up nine total blocks in the contest.

The Bulldogs finished with 40 kills, 67 digs and five service aces along with five errors at the service line.

On the opposite side of the net, the Bulldogs allowed Malone to hit only .104 for the contest with 33 total kills and 19 errors in 134 attempts.  The Pioneers added 62 digs, four blocks and two aces, but had seven service errors.

Lauren Townley led MU with 11 kills while both Kimberly McCracken and Katie Hasebein totaled 15 digs each in the setback.

Ferris State returns home and will host archrival Grand Valley State on Tuesday (Oct. 1) night starting at 7 p.m. (ET) inside the Ewigleben Sports Arena.
