#14 Ferris State Volleyball Completes Weekend Road Sweep With 3-0 Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball team, ranked 14th nationally, completed a weekend road sweep in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play with a 3-0 sweep of Ohio Dominican on Saturday (Sept. 27) in Columbus, Ohio.

The Bulldogs dominated the opening set with a 25-14 triumph and then completed the sweep with wins of 25-17 and 25-21 in the second and third frames, respectively.

Ferris State moved to 8-3 overall and 6-1 in league play with back-to-back weekend wins over Tiffin and ODU in conference action.

The Bulldogs hit .268 or better for all three frames of the match against the Panthers and owned a .318 figure for the contest.

Once again, Ferris State received balanced production as junior hitter Alexis Huntey netted a team-high 11 kills. Junior Megan Vander Meer added eight kills and senior Courtney Rehm had seven to help the Bulldog effort.

Meanwhile, sophomore setter Stephanie Sikorski totaled 32 assists in directing the FSU attack while junior libero Danielle Dowd tallied 14 digs. Vander Meer added nine digs, Huntey had eight and Rehm recorded seven on the day.

Ferris State produced 44 kills and only 10 errors on 107 total attacks while picking up 52 digs. FSU also had three service aces and finished with seven errors from the service line.

On the Ohio Dominican side, Lauren Kraemer had a match-best 12 kills while Lauren Rindler totaled 11 digs. Kelsey Fortney had 12 assists and Ashlin Aiken compiled 10 to help lead the Panthers.

ODU hit .111 for the afternoon with 32 kills and 20 errors on 108 total attempts. They also registered 44 digs and three aces with five service miscues.

With the setback, Ohio Dominican dropped to 6-7 overall and 4-3 in the GLIAC this season.

Ferris State returns home for a pair of league home contests next weekend as part of homecoming weekend. FSU hosts Ashland on Friday (Oct. 3) in a 7 p.m. (ET) league tilt at the Ewigleben Sports Arena before hosting Lake Erie on Saturday (Oct. 4) to begin an athletics tripleheader for the Bulldogs at 10 a.m. (ET).
