#15 Ferris State Storms Past Lake Erie In GLIAC Volleyball Action

Big Rapids, Mich. - Nationally 15th-ranked Ferris State ran its volleyball winning streak to four-straight matches as the Bulldogs swept Lake Erie 3-0 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play on Saturday (Oct. 4) inside FSU's Ewigleben Sports Arena.

The Bulldogs won their 10th match of the year by sweeping the Storm 25-11, 25-16 and 29-27 in league play on homecoming at Ferris State University.

FSU hit a blistering .462 in the opening set before posting figures of .270 in the second frame and .341 in the final set to finish with a .346 attack figure on the night.

Ferris State utilized 13 different players in the match and a balanced FSU attack was paced by junior hitter Megan Vander Meer along with senior outside hitter Courtney Rehm as both tallied 11 kills each.

FSU sophomore setter Stephanie Sikorski tallied 42 assists while libero Danielle Dowd compiled 12 digs for the Bulldogs. Rehm added six digs and Sikorski totaled five on the day.

Ferris State finished with 51 kills and 14 attack errors on 107 total attacks. The Bulldogs netted 41 digs and a single service ace with 11 service miscues. FSU also posted 10 block assists and two solo blocks at the net.

On the Lake Erie side, the Storm compiled 25 kills and 18 errors on 96 attempts. Asya Hobbs led LEC with six kills and Sara Aultz totaled five for the Storm. Meanwhile, setter Samantha Knepley posted 13 assists with Graesyn Engler recording eight digs and Sidney Fletcher chippping in five.

The Storm registered 36 digs and three aces with six service mistakes.

Ferris State improved to 10-3 overall and 8-1 in GLIAC play while Lake Erie fell to 2-12 overall and 0-9 in conference action.

The Bulldogs are next on the road on Friday, Oct. 10, as FSU visits Findlay for a 7:30 p.m. (ET) conference match in Findlay, Ohio. The Bulldogs then face Hillsdale on Saturday, Oct. 11, starting at 2 p.m. (ET) in Hillsdale, Mich.
