Ferris State Volleyball Notches Seventh-Straight Victory As 'Dawgs Finish Weekend Sweep

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad picked up its seventh-straight victory of the year as the Bulldogs capped a weekend trip to Ohio unbeaten with a 3-1 win over Ohio Dominican on Saturday (Oct. 1) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at Columbus, Ohio.

The Bulldogs took the first set 25-16 and pulled out a 25-19 triumph in the second frame of the match. However, ODU rallied for a 25-21 win in the third set of the encounter before FSU notched a 25-22 win in the fourth frame.

FSU improved to 11-5 overall and 5-1 in the GLIAC with the victory.

Freshman Allyson Cappel led FSU with 20 kills in the match and added 16 digs. Meanwhile, junior middle hitter Maria Kronner totaled 14 kills and Ayanna Buckley recorded 11 kills for FSU.

The Bulldogs also received 32 digs from libero Lauren Reminga with 25 from Katie Placek and 16 by Kaley Konjarevich. Senior setter Stephanie Sikorski finished with 48 assists for the Bulldogs.

Ferris State hit .193 overall with 57 kills and compiled 103 digs along with three solo blocks and eight block assists.

ODU was paced by Tory Thompson, who had 18 kills in the match. The Panthers totaled 50 kills with 108 digs and eight block assists to go with a solo block and three aces. They hit .122 overall.

Ferris State returns home to host Ashland next Friday (Oct. 7) starting at 5 p.m. (ET) inside FSU's Ewigleben Sports Arena.

The Bulldogs then host Tiffin on Saturday (Oct. 8) in a 3 p.m. (ET) league tilt.
