#7 Ferris State Volleyball Sweeps Michigan Tech In League Home Tilt

Big Rapids, Mich. - Nationally seventh-ranked Ferris State University stayed unbeaten in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play as the Bulldogs posted a 3-0 triumph over visiting Michigan Tech on Friday (Sept. 22) night in their league volleyball match inside the Ewigleben Sports Arena.

The Bulldogs won a close opening set 26-24 and handled the Huskies in the second frame with a 25-15 victory before finishing off MTU in a tightly-contested third set by another 26-24 score.

With the win, Ferris State improved to 10-2 overall this season and 4-0 in the GLIAC.

The Bulldogs hit .255 or better in each of the first two frames and then limited MTU to less than a .100 attack figure in the final two sets.

Ferris State had a balanced lineup with both senior middle hitter Ayanna Buckley and senior middle hitter Maria Kronner netting a team-high 10 kills each. FSU's Courtney Brewer added nine kills in the winning effort.

The Bulldogs also got 33 assists from setter Maeve Grimes to go with 12 digs by senior libero Lauren Reminga. Junior Katie Placek added 10 digs overall.

In the win, the Bulldogs compiled 38 kills and came up with 47 digs, nine blocks and five aces. Kronner had six block assists at the net while Placek had four. Meanwhile, Buckley served up three aces.

Michigan Tech was led by MacAulay Peterson, who notched a match-high 13 kills as the Huskies dropped to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in the GLIAC this year. Mariah Sherman chipped in with 12 kills for MTU while Lauren DeMarchi had 12 digs.

Ferris State will host Northern Michigan on Saturday (Sept. 23) to complete their league homestand with match time set for 3 p.m. (ET) at the Ewigleben Sports Arena. The Wildcats also own a 10-2 overall record and are tied with FSU atop the GLIAC with a perfect 4-0 mark to date.
