#7 Bulldogs Cap Unbeaten Week With Impressive Home Win Over NMU

Big Rapids, Mich. -The nationally #7 ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball team swept the Northern Michigan Wildcats on Saturday (Sept. 23) afternoon at the Ewigleben Sports Arena in Big Rapids to stay unbeaten in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) play.

The Bulldogs stormed past visiting Northern Michigan in straight-sets by scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 27-25. Sophomore outside hitter Allyson Cappel led Ferris State with a match-high 12 kills along with nine digs. She hit .259 for the match in the victory. 

In the contest, the Bulldogs hit .250 for the contest and totaled 43 kills with only 15 attack errors. FSU had 47 total digs en route to the victory. 

Bulldog sophomore outside hitter Courtney Brewer was close behind Cappel with 11 kills. Ayanna Buckley, senior middle hitter, tallied eight kills with both Maria Kronner and Katie Placek totaling five each. The Bulldogs also received 33 assists from setter Maeve Grimes along with seven digs. Senior libero Lauren Reminga led the team with 18 total digs.

Northern Michigan had 33 kills, 44 digs and three aces. The Wildcats fell to 10-3 overall with a GLIAC record of 4-1 after Saturday afternoon's match.

NMU junior Autumn Monsma and sophomore Sarah Kuehn led the Wildcats with eight kills each. 

Ferris improved to 11-2 overall this season and 5-0 in the GLIAC with the win.

The Bulldogs hit the road to next take on Lake Superior State on Friday (Sept. 29) in Sault Ste. Marie at 7 p.m. (EST).
