Bulldog Volleyball Sweeps Lake Superior State On Senior Day At Home

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nationally-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball squad posted its second sweep on the weekend as the Bulldogs topped the Lake Superior State Lakers on Senior Day in Saturday (Nov. 4) afternoon's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match inside the Ewigleben Sports Arena.

The Bulldogs pushed past the Lakers for a 25-17, 25-19 and 25-18 victory in their regular-season home finale. 

Sophomore outside hitter Allyson Cappel led the Bulldogs with 18 kills and a .472 hitting percentage while senior middle Maria Kronner and senior right-side hitter Hannah Guy both posted seven kills each. 

Senior middle hitter Nicole Malouhos led the team with three total blocks at the net while senior middle hitter Ayanna Buckley, Cappel and Guy all had two blocks in the win.

Sophomore setter Maeve Grimes notched 36 assists for the match in directing the FSU attack.

Meanwhile, senior libero Lauren Reminga compiled 12 digs for the day while Cappel had 11 overall. Grimes also had nine digs and Placek posted eight digs.

The Bulldogs finished with 45 kills and a .307 hitting percentage to go with 39 assists, 60 digs, six total blocks and two aces for the victory. 

The Lakers compiled 31 kills and hit only .096 for the contest. They also netted 28 assists, 53 digs, three aces and two total blocks. 

As part of Senior Day, the Bulldogs honored Buckley, Reminga, Malouhos, Guy and Kronner prior to their final regular-season home match.

Ferris State improved to 18-6 overall and 11-2 in the GLIAC with the win.

The Bulldogs hit the road for their last regular-season contests in Michigan's Upper Peninsula next weekend. The Bulldogs will first face Northern Michigan on Friday (Nov. 10) at 5 p.m. (ET) in Marquette before meeting Michigan Tech on Saturday (Nov. 11) beginning at 3 p.m. (ET) in Houghton.
