#11 Ferris State Claims Third-Straight Win To Stay Perfect In The GLIAC

Big Rapids, Mich. - Nationally 11th-ranked Ferris State University volleyball remained perfect in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play as FSU opened a three-match road stretch with a 3-1 triumph over Northwood on Tuesday (Sept. 11) evening at Riepma Arena in Midland.

The Bulldogs notched their third consecutive victory by beating the Timberwolves in four sets. FSU dropped the opening frame 25-16, but rallied to take the next three sets by scores of 25-20, 25-16 and 25-20 to improve to 8-3 overall and 3-0 in the GLIAC.

FSU's Courtney Brewer had a big night with a team-leading 16 points while hitting .378 overall. Junior standout Allyson Cappel added 11 kills and 10 digs in the triumph. Along with the two in double-digits, sophomore Katie O'Connell added nine kills and junior middle hitter Mekayla Carey chipped in eight kills.

The Bulldogs also got 28 digs from senior libero Katie Placek to go with 13 from O'Connell. Junior setter Maeve Grimes dished out 40 assists and added 14 digs on the evening.

Ferris State hit .233 for the match and also benefited from 18 block assists to go with two solo blocks. The Bulldogs had three aces from the service line.

Northwood was held to a .118 attack figure and the Timberwolves were paced by Colleen Mayer with 13 kills. Brenna Murphy totaled 20 digs in the setback as NU fell to 5-6 overall and 2-1 in the GLIAC.

The Bulldogs will travel to Michigan's Upper Peninsula this weekend for a pair of league tilts. FSU visits Northern Michigan on Friday (Sept. 14) night for a 7 p.m. (ET) match in Marquette before heading to Houghton on Saturday (Sept. 15) to face Michigan Tech at 4 p.m. (ET).
