Ferris State Volleyball To Host GLIAC Quarterfinal Wednesday As League's Top Seed

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball team will host Wisconsin-Parkside in the quarterfinal-round of the 2019 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament on Wednesday (Nov. 20) evening at the Ewigleben Sports Arena. Match time is set for 6 p.m. (ET).

The Bulldogs will be making their 22nd-straight league tournament appearance dating back to 1998.

Tickets for Wednesday's match will be sold at the door starting one hour prior to match time. Ticket prices for the quarterfinal match are $5 for adults or $3 for seniors (age 65+) along with K-12 students and all college students, including FSU students, with a valid ID card.

No complimentary passes will be issued per GLIAC Tournament guidelines and FSU's "Division II Pass for Two" will not be accepted for postseason contests.

The first 100 Ferris State students with a valid ID card will receive complimentary admission to Wednesday's quarterfinal at the door.

The top-seeded Bulldogs, who claimed the 2019 GLIAC Regular-Season Championship this weekend, would host the league semifinals and finals on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 23-24) by defeating the Rangers in Wednesday's quarterfinal match.

The other quarterfinal-round matches on Wednesday include fourth-seeded Saginaw Valley State hosting fifth-seeded Wayne State, third-seeded Ashland hosting number six seed Northern Michigan along with second-seeded Michigan Tech hosting seventh-seeded Grand Valley State.

Ferris State wrapped up the regular-season with a 22-5 overall record and posted a league-best 14-2 mark in GLIAC regular-season action.

This year's GLIAC Championship was Ferris State's 16th regular-season title in school history and seventh in the past nine seasons. It also represented FSU's sixth-straight conference championship.

The nationally-ranked Bulldogs, who were fourth in last week's NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings, closed the regular-season by winning their final five outings.

After conference tournament action is complete, the top eight teams in the region will advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament with the top school likely to host regional action Dec. 5-7. The winner of the GLIAC Tournament will receive the league's automatic bid with official NCAA Tournament selections set to be announced following conference tourney play.

Overall, Ferris State has advanced to the NCAA Tournament each of the last eight seasons to date and 23 times in program history.

This year marks the ninth consecutive season in which the Bulldogs have clinched a quarterfinal-round home match for the GLIAC Tournament.

In the past nine years, the Bulldogs have now compiled a 236-83 overall record, which includes a 142-14 mark in GLIAC regular season action. This year's GLIAC North Division crown represents the Bulldogs' seventh in the nine-year span and the squad has also reached at least the NCAA Regional Semifinals each of the past eight years, including an NCAA-II Elite Eight appearance and regional crown in 2013.

The Bulldogs have been particularly dominate at home where they are 11-1 at the Ewigleben Sports Arena this season. FSU owns a 114-12 mark in the arena dating back to the start of the 2011 season.
