Ferris State Volleyball To Face Michigan Tech In GLIAC Championship Match Sunday

Big Rapids, Mich. - The top-seeded Ferris State University women's volleyball team will square off against second-seeded Michigan Tech in the 2019 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Championship Match on Sunday (Nov. 24) at the Ewigleben Sports Arena.

Match time is set for 4 p.m. (ET).

The Bulldogs, who are making their 22nd-straight league tournament appearance dating back to 1998, beat eighth-seeded Parkside 3-0 in Wednesday night's quarterfinal-round in Big Rapids and then topped fifth-seeded Wayne State 3-0 on Saturday in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Michigan Tech was a 3-0 winner over Northern Michigan in the second semifinal on Saturday evening.

Tickets for Sunday's championship match will be sold at the door to the Ewigleben Sports Arena starting one hour prior to match time. Ticket prices for the GLIAC Tournament are $5 for adults or $3 for children and students, including FSU students, with a valid ID card. Children ages two and under are free.

The first 150 Ferris State students with a valid ID card will receive complimentary admission to Sunday's tournament final at the door.

No complimentary passes will be issued per GLIAC Tournament guidelines and FSU's "Division II Pass for Two" will not be accepted for postseason contests.

Sunday's title match will be aired live by local flagship station Sunny 97.3 FM and the Bulldog Sports Network online at FerrisStateBulldogs.com with pregame coverage starting a half-hour prior to the contest.

The Bulldogs, who claimed the 2019 GLIAC Regular-Season Championship for the sixth-straight year, improved to 24-5 overall after the semifinal victory. FSU posted a league-best 14-2 mark in GLIAC regular-season action and topped MTU twice in regular-season play.

The nationally-ranked Bulldogs, who were fourth in this past week's NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings, presently are 13-1 overall at home to date this season.

After conference tournament action is complete, the top eight teams in the region will advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament with the top school likely to host regional action Dec. 5-7. The winner of the GLIAC Tournament will receive the league's automatic bid with official NCAA Tournament selections set to be announced Monday (Nov. 25) evening beginning at 7:30 p.m. at NCAA.com.
