Bulldog Volleyball Starts Season With Sweep Over Tiffin Dragons

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad opened its 2021 season with a 3-0 shutout victory over the Tiffin Dragons in day one action at the Bulldogs' annual home invitational on Thursday (Sept. 2) night at the Ewigleben Sports Arena.

The Bulldogs notched a decisive 25-14, 25-10, 25-17 win to open the year with a victory against the Dragons.

Senior hitter Katie O'Connell along with middle hitter Samantha Hermann both totaled a team-high eight kills for the Bulldogs in the victory. FSU also got six kills from Leona Salesman in the win.

Meanwhile, Kaylee Maat totaled 34 assists in leading the offensive charge for FSU, which hit .275 overall and came up with 41 kills on 109 total attempts.

O'Connell also totaled 18 digs for Ferris State and libero Nina Gorgijevska had 15 digs.

The Bulldogs limited Tiffin to a -.029 attack figure as the Dragons had 25 attack errors in comparison to only 22 kills. Wakaya Wilson paced Tiffin with seven kills in the loss.

Ferris State continues action in its home invitational on Friday (Sept. 3) with a pair of matches against Saint Leo (Fla.) at 1 p.m. (ET) and Missouri-St. Louis at 6 p.m. (ET).
