Bulldog Volleyball Closes Regular-Season With 17th Consecutive Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad closed out the regular-season with its winning streak still intact as the Bulldogs pulled out a hard-fought 3-2 triumph at Davenport on Saturday (Nov. 13) in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

Ferris State ran its regular-season ending win streak to 17 consecutive matches, but it took a full five sets to do it as the Panthers gave FSU all it could handle inside the DU Student Center.

The Bulldogs won a tightly-contested opening set 25-23 before the Panthers responded, scoring wins of 25-22 and 25-23 in the second and third frames, respectively. FSU answered with a 25-18 win in the fourth and then claimed a 15-11 victory in the deciding fifth set to garner the road triumph.

Freshman Keona Salesman paced Ferris State with 16 kills while Olivia Henneman-Dallape added 15 kills. Senior Katie O'Connell also had an impressive day with 15 kills and 20 digs.

FSU was led defensively by senior libero Nina Gorgijevska, who came up with 21 digs to go with the 20 from O'Connell. Freshman setter Kaylee Maat finished with 46 assists and eight digs.

Overall, the Bulldogs posted a .230 attack figure for the match and produced 61 kills, 78 digs and six aces. Ferris State also had 14 block assists and four solo blocks at the net. O'Connell had a team-high six assisted blocks.

DU was led by Hayley Kreiger, who finished with 22 kills. Megan Herr added 14 kills and Emma Turnquist had 13 kills.

Ferris State will be the number two seed for the GLIAC Tournament and host seventh-seeded Northern Michigan on Wednesday (Nov. 17) night inside the Ewigleben Sports Arena. Stay tuned for additional postseason information.
