Ferris State Volleyball Reports For Fall Camp This Weekend

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University volleyball program will begin preparations for the 2022 fall campaign as FSU officially reports for the start of preseason workouts this weekend.

The Bulldogs will report on Saturday and then hold their first practice and training session on Monday in Big Rapids following initial testing and official check-in activities.

Along with the normal preseason practices, the squad will also participate in several scrimmages before camp comes to a close. Team meetings, presentations and conditioning are also part of the various scheduled preseason activities.

Last fall, Ferris State compiled an impressive 27-5 overall record and a spot in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Championship match. The Bulldogs also claimed the GLIAC South Division Championship and won the GLIAC Tournament in a memorable postseason run that included FSU serving as the top seed and the host of the Midwest Regional Tournament.

Ferris State has currently made 10 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and has advanced to at least the regional semifinals nine of the last 10 years. FSU's regional appearance in 2021 represented the program's 25th all-time NCAA bid.

The 2021 campaign marked the 19th time in 26 seasons under head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm in which FSU had claimed at least 20 victories in a campaign. The Bulldogs made their 24th consecutive GLIAC Tournament appearance last fall.

This fall, the Bulldogs will celebrate the 50th season of Ferris State Volleyball and play home matches inside Jim Wink Arena before potentially moving into the new Bulldog Arena later this fall. FSU will open the 2022 campaign at the Western Washington Invitational on Aug. 25-26 before taking part in the Hillsdale Charger Invitational on Sept. 1-2. The first home match is slated for Friday, Sept. 9, against Wisconsin-Parkside as the Bulldogs open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action.

Overall, Ferris State has claimed a GLIAC Regular-Season Championship and won the conference postseason tournament seven of the past eight seasons.
