#7 Ferris State Opens Upper Peninsula Trip With Decisive Win At Michigan Tech

Big Rapids, Mich. - The nation's seventh-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball squad opened up its weekend trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula with a dominating 3-0 sweep over Michigan Tech on Friday (Sept. 27) evening in Houghton.

The Bulldogs captured the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) tilt to move to 10-0 on the year and a perfect 3-0 in league action.

Ferris State won the opening set 25-19 and took set two 25-22 before sealing the win with a 25-21 triumph in the third frame.

Senior Olivia Henneman-Dallape totaled 18 kills in the FSU victory, leading a balanced team effort. Overall, the Bulldogs notched 43 kills and only 11 attack errors on 108 attempts for a .296 hitting figure.

Senior setter Kaylee Maat netted 25 assists in guiding the Bulldog attack. She also added a squad-best 11 digs with senior libero Leah Bylut adding nine digs overall.

Ferris State also had a strong performance at the net with 16 block assists and a solo effort. Senior middle hitter Chelsie Freeman totaled seven block assists for the Bulldogs.

Michigan Tech was led by Jacqueline Yancy with 12 kills. Paige Wagner added 10 kills and Tess Hayes finished with 29 assists.

The Huskies were limited to a .214 attack percentage with 15 errors on 103 tries in addition to 37 kills.

The Bulldogs will close out the Upper Peninsula trip with a league encounter on Saturday (Sept. 28) at Northern Michigan beginning at 3:30 p.m. (ET) in Marquette.
