#4 Ferris State Opens Weekend With Sweep Over SVSU At Bulldog Arena

Big Rapids, Mich. - The fourth-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball squad earned another win on Friday (Oct. 11) evening as the Bulldogs started a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) weekend homestand with a 3-0 win over Saginaw Valley State inside Bulldog Arena.

The Bulldogs jumped in front by taking the opening set 25-16 and then captured a 25-20 win in set two followed by a decisive 25-12 margin in the third frame.

With the victory, the Bulldogs are now 16-0 overall and off to an 8-0 start in the GLIAC.

Ferris State had a balanced effort in the win with senior outside hitter Olivia Henneman-Dallape notching 10 kills at the top of the attack. Senior middle hitter Chelsie Freeman tallied six kills and the trio of senior Claire Nowicki along with junior Syann Fairfield and freshman Gabby Piazza each notched five kills overall.

Bulldog senior setter Kaylee Maat recorded 26 assists, five digs and three aces for FSU while junior Emma Bleecher notched nine digs. Senior libero Leah Bylut added seven digs and Nowicki recorded six digs. The Bulldgos also got a match-high four service aces from Freeman.

The Bulldogs netted 35 kills and only nine attack errors on 82 tries for a .317 hitting figure. FSU also had 13 service aces and 40 digs.

Meanwhile, Ferris State finished the match with 10 block assists and three solo blocks at the net. Fairfield had three assisted blocks with Freeman and Henneman-Dallape both registering two assists and a solo effort.

SVSU was limited to a .102 attack percentage and the Cardinals finished with 21 attack errors in addition to 35 digs, three aces and eight block assists. Sedona Coon led Saginaw Valley State with a match-best 13 kills and Ava Beard had 17 assists.

The Bulldogs will host Lake Superior State to conclude the weekend homestand on Saturday (Oct. 12) starting at 3 p.m. (ET) inside Bulldog Arena.
