Bulldog Volleyball Finishes Unbeaten At Midwest Region Crossover

Big Rapids, Mich. - The fourth-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball squad kept its perfect record intact as the Bulldogs wrapped up play on Saturday (Oct. 19) at the Midwest Region Crossover with a 3-2 victory over Quincy (lll.) in Hammond, Ind.

The Bulldogs, who are now 20-0 overall, concluded play in the nation's largest collegiate volleyball event with a 3-0 mark following a pair of sweeps on Friday prior to Saturday's five-set triumph.

In the win over the Hawks, Ferris State fell behind early and had to rally, dropping the first set 25-13 and the second by a 25-17 score. However, the Bulldogs won set three 25-14 and the fourth frame by a 25-20 count before taking the deciding fifth set in close fashion by a 15-13 count.

Senior outside hitter Olivia Henneman-Dallape led the Bulldogs with 22 kills in the victory while senior middle hitter Chelsie Freeman contributed 14 kills, freshman Gabby Piazza added 13 kills and junior middle hitter Syann Fairfield totaled 10 kills.

Bulldog senior setter Kaylee Maat netted 45 assists for FSU and senior libero Leah Bylut tallied a team-best 20 digs. Emma Bleecher added 10 digs for FSU while Henneman-Dallape tallied five block assists and a solo block. Freeman also had five assisted blocks.

The Bulldogs hit .294 for the afternoon and recorded 69 digs to go with 14 block assists and five solo blocks at the net. FSU also had seven service aces.

Quincy, which suffered only it second loss of the season, was led by Emma Wijnbergen with 22 kills. Susanna Beretti notched 17 digs and 13 kills.

Ferris State returns home to host Davenport in GLIAC play on Thursday, Oct. 24, starting at 6 p.m. (ET) inside Bulldog Arena.
