Big Rapids, Mich. - The nation's second-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball squad continued its school-record unbeaten start as FSU handled visiting Davenport in a 3-0 sweep on Thursday (Oct. 24) evening before a near capacity crowd in Bulldog Arena.
The Bulldogs beat DU for the second time this campaign, taking a 25-12, 25-18, 25-17 win to improve to a nation-leading 21-0 overall this year. Ferris State also held onto its lead in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) standings by moving to 10-0 in conference play.
Ferris State tallied a .355 attack figure in the contest with only nine attack errors to go with 42 kills on 93 attempts. Overall, the Bulldogs played a total of 17 different players in the victory.
A trio of Bulldogs all had a team-best 10 kills in the contest, including senior Olivia Henneman-Dallape along with junior Syann Fairfield and freshman Gabby Piazza.
Bulldog senior setter Kaylee Matt, who was honored prior to the contest for recently notching her 5,000th career assist and for surpassing the school's all-time service aces mark, finished with 32 assists and another ace for FSU.
The Bulldogs defensively were led by senior libero Leah Bylut with 11 digs. Henneman-Dallape had three block assists at the net while both senior middle hitter Chelsie Freeman and Fairfield had two blocks apiece.
Ferris State registered 41 digs in the victory to go with 11 service aces, six block assists and a solo block.
On the opposite side, the Bulldogs limited DU to a .141 attack percentage and the Panthers netted 27 kills with 13 attack errors on 99 tries. The finished with 29 digs, four block assists, two solo blocks and two service aces. Karley Pretzer recorded a team-high eight kills and Kaitlyn Marsh notched seven. Hayley Carr recorded nine digs.
Ferris State will visit league newcomer Roosevelt on Friday (Oct. 25) evening for a 7 p.m. (ET) league contest near Chicago.
