Big Rapids, Mich. - The nation's top-ranked Ferris State University women's volleyball squad started postseason play with a win on Wednesday (Nov. 20) evening as the Bulldogs beat Purdue Northwest 3-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Semifinals before a large crowd inside Bulldog Arena.
With the win, Ferris State will now host the GLIAC Tournament Semifinals and Finals this weekend.
The top-seeded Bulldogs will take on fifth-seeded Michigan Tech on Saturday (Nov. 23) in the first semifinal at 12 p.m. (ET) with second-seeded Grand Valley State facing third-seeded Northern Michigan at 2:30 p.m. (ET). The winners will meet in the final on Sunday (Nov. 24) at 3 p.m. (ET).
In the quarterfinal round, Ferris State knocked out eighth-seeded Purdue Northwest by scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-21 to move to 29-0 overall this year.
Senior outside hitter Olivia Henneman-Dallape had a team-high 11 kills for the Bulldogs in the victory while Claire Nowicki added nine kills and Chelsie Freeman finished with eight kills. FSU's Kaylee Maat netted 28 assists.
On the defensive side, Nowicki totaled 15 digs for FSU while Maat and senior libero Leah Bylut each had 11 digs. Emma Bleecher recorded two aces for the Bulldogs at the service line while both Nowicki and Henneman-Dallape registered two blocks each.
Ferris State finished with a .216 hitting figure, coming up with 38 kills and 13 errors on 116 attacks. The Bulldogs also had 70 digs and posted five aces along with two solo blocks and four block assists.
On the opposite side, Purdue Northwest hit .116 for the evening on 34 kills and 19 errors with a total of 129 attacks. The Pride managed 58 digs to go with four aces, two solo blocks and six block assists.
