Ferris State's Logyn Geren Wins D2 Volleyball Elite 90 Award

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University women's volleyball junior outside hitter Logyn Geren (Fort Myers, Fla.) was announced on Wednesday evening as the recipient of the Elite 90 award for the 2024 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship.

Geren was presented with the award during the volleyball Division II Elite Eight Banquet in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships.

Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed. For more information on the Elite 90 award winners, log on to https://www.ncaa.com/elite-90.

Geren becomes the first Bulldog volleyball player to claim the distinction since the award's inception and the fifth FSU student-athlete all-time to be recognized. She joins past FSU recipients Tommy Hill (Hockey), Shelby Janutol (Women's Indoor Track), Travis Russell (Football) and Cole Vickers (Men's Basketball), who was honored this past March at the men's basketball D2 Elite Eight with the same award.

The unbeaten and top-seeded Bulldogs will square off against Bentley (Mass.) in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight on Thursday (Dec. 12) evening with first serve for the national quarterfinal round contest set for 8 p.m. (ET) at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls.
