Ferris State Tabs Jaxon Klosterman As New Assistant Volleyball Coach
Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University has announced the appointment of Jaxon Klosterman as the Bulldogs' new assistant volleyball coach in an announcement made by FSU head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm.
Klosterman joins the FSU staff following three years as an assistant coach at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He replaces former assistant coach Hannah Wuest, who recently was named the head coach at Arkansas Tech University.
"Jaxon is a fantastic addition to our Bulldog staff," said Brandel-Wilhelm. "His energetic and engaging coaching style along with his recruiting experiences will immediately help our team grow. We are thrilled to welcome him to Ferris State."
During his time at Mount Mercy, Klosterman helped coach an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America honoree along with three all-region performers and 19 student-athletes who captured All-Heart of America Conference accolades, including the 2024 Heart of America Defender of the Year.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Klosterman has also spent six years coaching on the club level for the Iowa Rockets Volleyball Club.
"I am beyond excited to join one of the top programs in the country," Klosterman said. "It is clear that Coach Brandel-Wilhelm not only fosters successful athletes, but also extraordinary young women.
"I am honored to join a program that is bigger than just volleyball and cannot wait to see what the future holds for Ferris State Volleyball," he added.
A University of Iowa alum, Klosterman also served as an assistant coach on the prep level at Iowa City West High School in 2021 prior to joining the Mount Mercy staff.
The Bulldogs capped off a historic campaign this past fall with a 34-1 overall record, winning the Midwest Regional Championship for the first time since 2013 and reaching the NCAA Division II Elite Eight. The Bulldogs also continued an impressive recent stretch by winning yet again the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Regular Season and Tournament Championships under National Coach of the Year Tia Brandel-Wilhelm.
FSU is currently midst its spring season and will open its 2025 slate this coming fall.
