Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University women's volleyball squad rolled to a 3-0 home sweep over Northern Michigan in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play on Saturday (Sept. 20) afternoon inside Bulldog Arena.
FSU won its second-straight home match to open league action, beating the Wildcats 25-19, 25-23 and 25-18 overall to move to 7-3 this season. Ferris State had beat Michigan Tech by a 3-1 score in its league and home opener on Friday night.
In Saturday's victory over the Wildcats, the Bulldogs tallied a .318 attack percentage with 44 kills and only 10 attack mistakes on 107 attempts. FSU also netted 52 digs while coming up with 10 service aces, eight block assists and three solo blocks.
Senior Emma Bleecher led FSU with 11 kills and 10 digs in a double-double effort. Meanwhile, sophomore setter Hayley Wegener finished with 31 assists while adding nine digs in the triumph.
The Bulldogs also got nine kills from hitter Emily May to go with eight apiece by Gabby Piazza and Logyn Geren. Jasmine Wellet chipped in with eight digs and Piazza added seven.
Northern Michigan finished the match with a .215 attack figure and the Wildcats posted 47 digs to go with six aces and two block assists.
Sydney Bartels paced NMU with 11 kills and eight digs while Allie Barlow notched 31 assists. Lauren Cardwell also had 16 digs and Remi Madison finished with 10 digs.
Ferris State will host West Michigan rival Grand Valley State on Friday, Sept. 26, starting at 6 p.m. (ET) inside Bulldog Arena.
