Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University freshman Anna Rudd (Leslie) has been recognized as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week after her showing in FSU's most recent outing this past weekend.

Rudd placed sixth overall (23:01.52) at the Division II Pre-National Invitational to help the Bulldogs to a third-place team finish last Saturday (Sept. 26) in Evansville, Ind.  Rudd was the Bulldogs' second-highest finisher in the event featuring nine teams and 75 runners competing on the USI Cross Country Course, which will be the site of the Division II Championships in November.  Bulldog junior Tina Muir (St. Albans, U.K.) was the women's individual winner in the 6K race as she clocked 21:48.22 to place ahead of the other 74 runners taking part in the field.

Currently, Rudd has posted three-straight top 15 individual performances to begin her career for the nationally-ranked Bulldogs.  She previously came in second overall (18:49.39) during FSU's own 5K Ray Helsing Bulldog Invitational (Sept. 18) held at Big Rapids' Katke Golf Course and opened the campaign by clocking 19:23 in placing 11th overall in the 5K Hope College Vanderbilt Invitational (Sept. 5) at Holland, Mich.

Ferris' women tallied 82 points and placed behind the University of Tampa (29) and Southern Indiana (56) at the Division II Pre-National Invitational.

FSU is currently ranked sixth in this week's (Sept. 29) United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Midwest Regional Rankings and was listed 23rd overall in last week's (Sept. 23) USTFCCCA National Rankings under second-year head coach Steve Picucci.

The Bulldogs are next tentatively slated to take part in the Wisconsin-Parkside Lucian Rosa Open on Saturday, Oct. 10, in Kenosha, Wis.
