Freshman Anna Rudd Claims GLIAC Award

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University freshman Anna
Rudd (Leslie) has been recognized as this week's Great
Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Cross
Country Runner of the Week after her showing in FSU's most recent
outing this past weekend.
Rudd placed sixth overall (23:01.52) at the Division II
Pre-National Invitational to help the Bulldogs to a third-place
team finish last Saturday (Sept. 26) in Evansville, Ind. Rudd
was the Bulldogs' second-highest finisher in the event featuring
nine teams and 75 runners competing on the USI Cross Country
Course, which will be the site of the Division II Championships in
November. Bulldog junior Tina Muir (St.
Albans, U.K.) was the women's individual winner in the 6K race as
she clocked 21:48.22 to place ahead of the other 74 runners taking
part in the field.
Currently, Rudd has posted three-straight top 15 individual
performances to begin her career for the nationally-ranked
Bulldogs. She previously came in second overall (18:49.39)
during FSU's own 5K Ray Helsing Bulldog Invitational (Sept. 18)
held at Big Rapids' Katke Golf Course and opened the campaign by
clocking 19:23 in placing 11th overall in the 5K Hope College
Vanderbilt Invitational (Sept. 5) at Holland, Mich.
Ferris' women tallied 82 points and placed behind the University of
Tampa (29) and Southern Indiana (56) at the Division II
Pre-National Invitational.
FSU is currently ranked sixth in this week's (Sept. 29) United
States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA)
Division II Midwest Regional Rankings and was listed 23rd overall
in last week's (Sept. 23) USTFCCCA National Rankings under
second-year head coach Steve Picucci.
The Bulldogs are next tentatively slated to take part in the
Wisconsin-Parkside Lucian Rosa Open on Saturday, Oct. 10, in
Kenosha, Wis.
