Ferris State Cross Country Returns To Action At MSU Spartan Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country teams got back into action on Friday (Sept. 18) as the Bulldogs took part in the Michigan State Spartan Invitational in East Lansing, Mich.

The non-scoring event included competitors from several levels of competition and institutions across the region such as FSU, Michigan State, Hillsdale, Bowling Green, Edinboro, Albion and more.

In the women's race, the Bulldogs were paced by senior Emily Haynes, who placed 43rd overall in a time of 23:19 in the race.

Bulldog junior Samantha Humphrey was 87th (24:08) followed by sophomore Jessica Delaney in 91st place (24:15) and junior Racheal McDonald in 92nd place (24:16). Senior Kristie Lesage came in 103rd (24:35) with freshman Jordan Lee 108th (24:40).

FSU senior Paige Koskinen finished 169th (25:51), freshman Lindsay Christensen was 187th (26;14) and senior Jeanne Wilson placed 188th (26:15). 

Overall, a total of 318 runners competed in the women's race.

On the men's side, junior Logan Hammer led the Bulldogs by placing 47th overall (26;15). Sophomore Trevor Holowaty came in 71st (26:44), junior Kyle Richardson was 90th (27:06) and freshman Roan Fahey placed 114th (27:23).

FSU sophomore Clayton Springer wound up 131st (27:32), sophomore Hunter Nivison took 136th (27:38) and sophomore Jake Morey came in 159th (27:53). Bulldog sophomore Connor Pilmore placed 187th (28:19) with freshman Damien Halverson 207th (28:36) and sophomore Chase Benson 240th (29:21). Freshman Ryan Mooney placed 265th (29:40), freshman Zach McKenzie was 281st (30:04) and freshman John Alberts finished 298th (30:25).


Junior Ryan Wickstrom recorded a 309th place finish (30:52) with nearly 400 total runners taking part in the men's race.

The Bulldogs are next in action on Friday, Sept. 25, at the Augustana College Invitational in Rock Island, Ill.
