Bulldog Cross Country Returns To Action At Greater Louisville Classic

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country squads returned to action on Saturday (Sept. 29) at the Greater Louisville Classic, which took place at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Kentucky.

In the women's competition, the Bulldogs placed fourth overall with 209 points in the 5K Blue field, which was won by Michigan with 20 points among the 31 competing schools.

Junior Kathryn Etelamaki came in fourth in the race at 17:52.8 and was the only runner not from the University of Michigan to finish in the top five overall.

FSU freshman Paige Deitering took 41st (19:12.3) with Sydney Dawes 50th (19:21.3). Next in line was Jennifer Eaton in 61st place (19:30.4) followed by freshman Hannah Loucks, who placed 68th (19:33.2).

The Bulldog men came in 15th overall of 45 schools in the 8K Blue Division with 485 total points.

Senior Damien Halverson paced the Bulldogs by coming in 36th overall in a time of 25:42.9 for the race.

Bulldog sophomore Mark Jacobs placed 82nd in the field (26:17.2) with senior Zach Mckenzie 83rd (26:17.5). Sophomore Aaron Jarmea finished 130th (26:44.1) with junior Gage Clevland 156th (26:55.8).

Ferris State will be back in action this coming week as the Bulldogs take part in both the Lansing Community College Invitational on Friday (Oct. 5) and the Conference Crossover on Saturday (Oct. 6) in Romeoville, Ill.
