Bulldog Cross Country Squads Finish Among Top 10 Teams In Louisville

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country squads got back into competition on Saturday (Oct. 5) and both finished among the top 10 squads, competing in one of the nation's largest events at the Live In The Lou Classic held in Louisville, Ky.

The meet was held at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.

The Bulldog women's squad came in third overall in the 5K Blue Division, totaling 135 points. The University of Charlotte took first (51) with Illinois-Chicago second (135) in front of FSU.

Senior Hanna Brock led the Bulldogs with a fourth-place overall finish time a time of 18:18.4. Junior Whitney Farrell placed seventh (18:31.3) while Jessica Durkee took 33rd place (19:05.7). Meanwhile, Daisy Englund came in 48th (19:22.8) and Melanea Strauss finished 57th (19:31.7).

In the men's 5K Blue Division, the Bulldogs finished 10th overall with 277 points. The event was won by Xavier (69) with Charlotte second (99) of more than 30 competing teams.

Junior Cooper Sorsen led the Bulldogs with an 11th-place overall performance (25:07.1). Ryan Ososki came in 52nd (25:51.1) with junior Gavin Vansolkema 66th (26:03.4) and sophomore Ben Knuth 77th (26:11.2). Senior Noah Griffith finished 88th (26:18.3).

Ferris State will next compete in the Lewis Conference Crossover on Saturday, Oct. 12, in Romeoville, Ill.
