Ferris State Dominates American International In Decisive Home Victory

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University Bulldogs took care of business at home on Saturday (Oct. 28) as fSU dominated American International in a 56-0 victory at Top Taggart field.

The Bulldogs started the game strong, scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter. Mitchell, Mylik ran for a 12-yard touchdown, followed by Carson Gulker with a 3-yard touchdown run. FSU's Cam Orr recovered a fumble in the end zone for another touchdown, giving Ferris State a comfortable 21-0 lead in the opening period.

The second quarter saw even more dominance from Ferris State. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss threw a 69-yard touchdown pass to Tyrese Hunt-Thompson followed by Brady Rose returning a punt 49 yards for a touchdown. FSU's Jason Williams intercepted a pass and returned it for a 40-yard touchdown, extending Ferris State's lead to 35-0.

Ferris State continued its dominance in the third quarter with a 43-yard touchdown pass from Chambliss to Cam Underwood, making it a 49-0 contest.

In the final quarter, the Bulldogs' James Gilbert caught a 39-yard touchdown pass from Chambliss, further solidifying Ferris State's victory.

The statistics of the game also highlighted Ferris State's efffort. They had 21 first downs compared to American International's 11. Ferris State also had a higher third-down efficiency, converting 38% of their attempts compared to American International's 14%.

In terms of total offense, Ferris State gained 445 yards, while American International only managed 160 yards. Ferris State's passing game was particularly impressive, with a total of 232 net yards passing compared to American International's 75.

The rushing game was also dominated by Ferris State, with a total of 213 net yards rushing compared to American International's 85.

Ferris State's defense was also strong, with three interceptions and two fumble recoveries. 

The Bulldog improved to 6-2 overall this season by beating the Yellow Jackets in the first-ever series' matchup.

Ferris State will square off against unbeaten Davenport next Saturday, Nov. 4, in Caledonia. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. (ET).
