Ferris State Men's Golf First After Day One At Malone-Glenmoor Fall Invite

Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team opened its 2023-24 season in a strong way on Monday (Sept. 11) as the Bulldogs sit atop the leaderboard after two rounds in the Malone-Glenmoor Fall Invitational in Canton, Ohio.

FSU carded a 294 team total in round one followed by a 289 figure in round two to close the opening day 36 holes of action with a 583 (+7) figure. The Bulldogs hold a five-shot lead over second-place Tiffin (588) heading into Tuesday's final day of action.

The event includes a total of 15 schools and is being contested at the Glenmoor Country Club.

Ferris State sophomore Caleb Bond sits in first place individually with a 136 total for 36 holes or eight-under par. He shot a 70 in the first round and a six-under 66 score in round two. Presently, he holds a five-shot lead.

FSU's Adam Arif Madzri is currently tied for 10th overall after notching a 73 in round one and a 74 in round two for a 147 (+3) figure.

The Bulldogs' Drayton Cleaver is 25th overall following day one competition, notching a 151 total on scores of 77 in round one and 74 in round two, respectively.

Meanwhile, a pair of Bulldog freshmen in Kole Putnam and McCoy Biagioli both sit tied for 32nd overall with 153 scores. Putnam shot a 74 in round one and a 79 in round two while Biagioli carded a 78 in the opening round and closed with a 75.

Finally, Shayne Beaufait competed as an individual and is tied for 77th in the field. He recorded an 82 in the first round and an 85 in round two for a 167 score.

The final round will take place on Tuesday (Sept. 12).
