Strong Start For Ferris State Men's Golf Puts FSU In Second Place After First Day At UIndy Invite
Big Rapids, Mich. - The Ferris State University men's golf team had a big day on Monday (Sept. 25) at the UIndy Invitational in Indianapolis and currently sits second overall on the leaderboard heading into the final round.
FSU notched a two-round 567 total on Monday, shooting a tourney-best 279 score in round one followed by a 288 total in the second round. The Bulldogs are presently nine strokes under par and trail only leader Grand Valley State by four strokes (-13) heading into Tuesday's final round of action.
A total of 16 schools from across the region are taking part in the event at the Broadmoor Country Club on a par 72 layout measuring 6,904 yards.
The Bulldogs were led on Monday by Adam Arif Madzri, who fired a 140 total on rounds of five-under par 67 and one-over 73. He is presently tied for fourth in the field and only two strokes out of first place.
FSU's McCoy Biagioli notched a 141 score on rounds under par of 71 and 70 to come in tied for sixth after 36 holes of competition.
The Bulldogs' Caleb Bond shot a four-under 68 in round one and a 74 in the second round to finish with a 142 mark, placing tied for ninth in day one action.
Ferris State's Nathan Kraynyk shot a 145 score for the day on rounds of 74 and 71, which was good for a share of 20th place overall.
Finally, Zach Koerner recorded a 147 score and sits tied for 32nd overall, posting a 73 in the first round and a 74 in round two.
The Bulldogs' Kole Putnam also competed as an individual on Monday and is presently tied for 32nd in the field with a 147 total as well, shooting a 77 in the first round before coming back with a two-under 70 score in round two.
Final round play in the event begins on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
